Through exceptional innovation, Lagos State University (LASU) student Aberejo Habeeblah Oladipupo has secured the prestigious Don Etiebet Most Innovative Project Award for 2024, establishing himself as a standout talent in Nigeria’s tech ecosystem. His advanced project, which combines facial recognition with geofencing for attendance tracking, demonstrates the remarkable potential of homegrown Nigerian tech solutions.

The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) competition, recognized for featuring exceptional technological innovations, saw Aberejo’s project emerge as the best undergraduate project in Lagos State. This achievement strengthens LASU’s standing as a center for technological innovation in Nigeria.
The victory gains additional significance from LASU’s strong performance at the competition. The institution captured two of the top three positions, with Aberejo’s colleague, Taofiq Akintunde, claiming the second runner-up spot. The latest accolade also makes it the fourth time in a row that LASU students would be winning the competition.
“Representing LASU was a true honor,” Aberejo said, reflecting on his achievement. His success stems from the guidance of distinguished academics like Professor Benjamin Aribisala and Professor Enikuomehin, whose mentorship proved valuable throughout the project’s development.
