Aminat Yusuf, from the LASU’s Department of Law, graduated with a all-time high cumulative grade point average of 5.0 in the 2021/2022 academic session. This perfect CGPA has never been recorded in the history of the State University. In commendation of her gritty performance, Governor of Lagos State – Babajide Sanwo-Olu awarded her a sum of N5m with an additional N5m from the State Government during the university’s 26th convocation.
2023 LP Presidential Election Candidate, Peter Obi, also took time to congratulate Aminat in a Twitter post that read:

Aminat Yusuf got admission into the Lagos State University (LASU) to study Law in 2016 through Diploma. The programme ran for 2 years. Aminat finished with a CGPA of 4.98/5.0. After her Diploma, she pursued an undergraduate degree in Islamic and Common Law. In 2022, she signed out with a perfect CGPA of 5.0.
How Aminat Hit Five Point
In an interview with The Punch, she attributed her success to discipline and the guidance of her journalist father, who always expressed dissatisfaction over her academics during her days at Alhikmat College.
“I remember in one of my results, I had 9 As, most of which were scores above 80 and 90. However, I failed Mathematics. I was scolded so much. He condemned the entire results.”
Aminat also stated that despite that she did very much needed “burning of candles” and “marathon reading,” her excellent result would not have been possible without God’s Mercy.
What’s Next For Aminat After School?
She is currently taking up internships with some top-tier law firms to further equip herself with the rudiments of legal practice. Her goal is to fight the cause of justice using the instrumentality of the Law.
To aid legal education, Aminat Yusuf is also planning on grooming a YouTube channel, named Learning Law with Aminat (LLA), with the aim of making available valuable lessons in all compulsory law courses, as a supplementary tool to all Law students across the federation.
